Calliope was a student publication produced in cooperation with the English and Art Departments at Western Michigan University from 1954-1967. Its purpose was to promote good student writing. Calliope resumed in 1970 as a publication of Manuscript Day, which continued through 2001. The Herald and Horn preceded Calliope and Third Coast started coming out as the University's literary magazine in 1995.
