Abstract
As a pervasive developmental disorder first identified in early childhood, autism is usually characterized by four features (American Psychiatric Association, 1994). These features include impairment in social interactions, impairment in communication, a restricted repertoire of activities and interests, and disturbances in response to sensory stimulation. As one of the key deficits, communication training has been one of the key topics in the psychological research literature (e.g., Sundberg, Endicott, & Eigenheer, 2000).
