Abstract
Transference is a technical term introduced by the Freudian School of Psychoanalysis. Transference, used in the strictly technical sense, refers to the particular exchange of feelings that occurs during psychoanalysis. Freud was first to uncover the dynamics of transference. Sandor Ferenczi helps us understand the relation between transference and hypnosis. Freud and Ferenczi will be principle figures in starting this investigation. For we will start our study at the beginning, with psychoanalysis, move beyond, through the historic development, and then on to break new ground in what we will come to know as the generic concept of transference.
