Abstract
Students taking Dr, Malott's Graduate Record Exam Preparation course are expected to master the standard 3,500 word list found in Barron's (Brownstein, Weiner, & Green, 1994). Currently, it takes students approximately 140 hours to complete this goal. A more efficient method of learning is needed to reduce the number of hours spent learning vocabulary. I attempted to address this problem by creating a learning strategy using prefixes. Results from the experiment show that prefix training alone does not facilitate vocabulary learning as well as definition training. However, prefix training may be beneficial as a supplement to the traditional method of memorizing definitions.
