Abstract
In this paper I have attempted to come to grips with the birth of a state; if not the birth of a state, at least the conceiving of one. The years from 1154 until 1189 were full of change—up and downs If you will, that harried and harassed and above all greatly Influenced the final outcome of the English nation.
