Abstract

Schools for the blind have a great amount of expertise that could benefit all students with visual impairments even when they are back in their neighborhood schools. Although distance creates an obstacle, collaboration with a student's local education agency (LEA) is important especially during transition periods from one location to the other. This study explores whether or not schools for the blind are collaborating, how the collaborative process is defined, what benefits of collaboration result, and what changes schools for the blind would like to see in the collaborative transition process.
