Abstract
Like most other students of the Lee Honors College at Western Michigan University, I had been both anticipatory and anxious for three years about the specific focus of my senior thesis project. The majority of coursework during those three years had been devoted to analyzing my peers' and my own writing in various fiction workshops, as well as reading and studying the work of legendary and successful literary writers. So when I filled out my thesis declaration form at the end of my junior year, the area of concentration came naturally as the next step for my writing: to polish a piece of fiction and send it out to literary journals in hopes of my first publication.
