Abstract
What is translating? Can it be called an art? How does one go about translating a piece of written material? These are some of the questions I would like to discuss be fore presenting my translation. The answers will come from professionals in this field and from myself and will, hope fully, give you a feel for what it is that I have undertaken. For only after knowing how and why translators go about their work, and how I went about mine, will you be able to fully understand and judge my translation of Sansibar Oder der letzte Grund.
