Abstract
Although many writers wrote of their own personal war experiences, few wrote about the war in general. It was not until the 1960's, that writers including Giinter Grass, Christa Wolf, and Heinrich Boll began to speak up and work with the themes of the Nazi past. Max Frisch and Rolf Hochhuth were also among these writers with their plays, Andorra and Der Stellvertreter (The Deputy) respectively.
