Abstract

Learning a foreign language is a task that goes beyond understanding grammatical structures and ideas, encompassing gained knowledge of cultural norms and ideologies for the student of the language. One way to understand new syntactical structures and idiomatic expressions is to gain a sense of the culture in which the language is spoken natively. In many language textbooks, and thus classrooms, the focus of many lesson's center solely on verb conjugation, leaving culture to be taught in synapses throughout chapters.
