Abstract
This project first came to life while I was studying for the MCAT. I was in San Diego taking Kaplan’s 2012 Summer Intensive MCAT Program (SIP). SIP is a six week intensive study program where classes, private tutoring, and individual studying are offered seven days a week from 9:00 am until 11:00 pm, each day, covering everything one would need to know to succeed on the MCAT. So there I was, taking one of the best MCAT preparatory courses (Johnson), and I thought, “Why do I feel so unprepared for this class?” Several things came to mind. I felt like I knew nothing, and I had never seen any of the material. Surely, I had seen the material, or at least some of it. I asked myself, “Was it my fault that I felt unprepared, or, was it my university’s fault that I did not feel prepared?” I sat there wondering if I was the only one at SIP who felt this way, and made it one of the goals of this project to answer that question.
