Abstract
As avid readers of children's storybooks, we wanted to learn more about the important process of writing and illustrating this form of literature. Our thesis project took on two separate forms. One form was a research paper where we examined and studied the work of successful authors and illustrators and read guides about creating children's literature. The other form was an actual storybook that we created over the course of a year. Our research about authors and illustrators served as fuel for the creative process involved with our storybook. The guides molded the steps we took to write and illustrate our book. Questions that arose during the creation of our text and pictures led us back to the research. In actuality, the two separate portions of our thesis were tightly interwoven.
