Abstract
It is quickly becoming evident that the women in Iran are not the docile inactive women that they may be portrayed as, but rather important actors in all spheres of Iran's political life. Throughout this discussion the important roles that women have played and still do play in Iran's civil society will be illustrated and emphasized. Although the focus of this paper is on women's roles within Iranian civil society, it will often be necessary to describe the entire society's roles in order to provide a thorough understanding of the topic.
