Abstract

In this thesis, I will expand upon the historical foundations of the apartheid system and examine the development of racial attitudes in South Africa and explain how these factors led to the establishment of the TRC. The Commission's unique features will be examined and evaluated in order to provide insight into the TRC's impact and effectiveness.
