Abstract

This piece is the literary analysis of three poems: "The Passionate Shepherd to his Love" by Christopher Marlowe, "The Nymph's Reply to the Shepherd" by Sir Walter Raleigh, and "I Cannot Live with you" by Emily Dickinson. It examines the ways in which these poems build upon each other, and ultimately come to a single conclusion: the fragility and unknowns associated with love make it far too dangerous. This piece is intended for the poetry-affiliated and interested reader.
