Abstract
This composition is a three movement work scored for clarinet in Bb, bassoon, trumpet in Bb, tuba, percussion, violin, violoncello, and spoken word. Written by Marcel Price, the poems are the story of a young man and three different landmarks in his maturation. The instruments chosen were picked because the specific instrumentation is without significant historical precedent. Each of the movements features a different combination of instruments creating different moods through timbre with the ultimate goal of keeping the message of the words at the forefront.
