This session invites papers which explore the interactions of romance and religious genres, whether hagiography, devotional literature, or even liturgical texts. Possible topics include romance adaptations of saints’ lives, the convergence or conflict of secular and spiritual values in romance, and the relation of romance to devotional texts and practices of the medieval period.
