This session invites papers that consider the intersections of romance with other genres which deal with the humorous, preposterous, or even the taboo, anything which might fall under ‘ridicule’ either light or serious. Possible topics include the relationships between romance and fabliaux, the way in which the romances handle humour, and romance appropriations of subject matter that is bizarre, uncanny, or censured.

This session invites papers that consider the intersections of romance with other genres which deal with the humorous, preposterous, or even the taboo, anything which might fall under ‘ridicule’ either light or serious.
