Description

The session concerns the subject of geography from its literal manifestation in "earth writing" to the discipline within the medieval university. Papers address marks on the earth (furrows, furlongs, boundary lines), geographical developments in the Middle Ages, the influence of geographical works on other genres such as literature, and apply recent geographical theory and practices to medieval topics.
