Description
"Joan of Arc in Theory" considers the use of academic theory, from historiographical to literary to gender and sociological, to better understand Joan of Arc and her contemporaries. A notable volume of research on Joan of Arc has remained neutral in naming explicit theoretical claims, and this session addresses theory overtly for its usefulness in understanding Joan and moreover identifies what light Joan of Arc sheds on the theories themselves, their usefulness and limitations for understanding Joan and her memory.
