To commemorate and celebrate the legacy of Louis IX of France (1214-1270), who was a king, crusader, saint, and one of the most influential patrons of the arts in the Middle Ages, this pair of tripartite sessions will endeavor to explore new approaches to the study of the saint-king of France on the special occasion of his eight-hundredth birthday at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in 2014.
