Peter Sutton performs extracts from his alliterative translation of William Langland’s fourteenth-century poem "Piers Plowman," newly published by McFarland. The extracts demonstrate the energy, imagery and humor of the original.
Peter is a professional actor and playwright and has translated over 1000 books, poems and other documents for cultural institutions and international organizations. He is a former editor of the Unesco International Review of Education (see www.petersutton.eu for more).
The session is introduced by Ian Cornelius, a member of the International Piers Plowman Society, and also outlines what is known of Langland’s life. Questions and comments are welcome.
