Description
The political, intellectual, devotional, and literary divisions among Mozarabs and Jews in al-Andalus provide important examples of medieval populations affirming and contesting their connections with both Christian Europe and with their local Muslim leaders. These papers explore how Christians and Jews identified themselves within this context and what conclusions we might draw about concepts of identity in the multicultural environment of al-Andalus, as well as about conceptions of identity in other medieval communities.
