Description
The Heroic Bastard trope is commonly used in popular culture today. In this session we expect to explore the ambiguous and uneasy figure of the bastard/s and how they contribute or not to the valorization of the epic ideal of the hero/es, and if they help to reintegrate and support maternal or paternal lineage in the noble families that sponsored this genre. Medieval Romance epics with bastard heroes teach us about cultural anxieties and aspirations of their societies.
