Studies of the material and spatial dimensions of the medieval meal, foodways, and the table can cast a light on both practical and mental aspects of culture. This session presents papers and demonstrations on the physical and spatial aspects of medieval foodways from multiple perspectives. Comparing these perspectives, the session will contribute to the understanding and analysis of the lived experience of the medieval meal.
