Diether H. Haenicke (1935-2009) was the fifth president of Western Michigan University from 1985 to 1998, and also served one year as interim president from 2006 to 2007. He wrote columns for the local paper - the Kalamazoo Gazette that were later published in a book Wednesdays with Diether.
