Abstract

Jean Piaget's work is important to education for the most obvious of reasons. He has deepened our understanding of the experience of childhood. Understanding the experience of childhood means understanding how children think and learn and realising not only that children's intellectual abilities develop gradually as a result of action, but that their learning abilities are relative to the developmental period during which they take place.
