Abstract
Fundamental to the conflict between the Self and the Other is fear; fear of the unknown, fear of the dark and what may be hiding in the shadow's folds just beyond the light of the fire. All art, literature included, is about confronting this fear, which manifests itself in the basic dualities of life; black or white, male or female, right or wrong.
