Abstract

My Honors Thesis took form as my Senior Trumpet Recital. This project consisted of me preparing a series of pieces (both as a soloist and in an ensemble) both on my own and with the guidance of my trumpet professors. I researched the pieces and presented verbal program notes on them during the recital. My preparation culminated in the performance of Oskar Böhme’s Concerto in F minor for Trumpet and Piano, Op.18 (all three movements), George Enescu’s Légende pour Trompette et Piano, Libby Larsen’s Ridge-Runner: An Uninterrupted Suite (all three movements), Suite Française by Eugène Bozza (all three movements) and Just A Closer Walk, arranged by Don Gillis. In the reflection, I will go further in depth on the challenges I faced with this project and what I learned and gained from it.
