Description

1. Jews in Provintzia: in memory of Moshe Lazar (panel)

Lazar's interests were almost without bounds so it was difficult to narrow the topic of our session to a single slice of his scholarship. Jewish Studies scholarship on communities in Occitania, called Provintzia in the medieval Hebrew sources is quite healthy. Nonetheless there is little dialogue between Occitan Studies and Jewish Studies. We hereby wish to open the dialogue by inviting papers that discuss Jews in Provintzia for our Société Guilhem IX sessions at Kalamazoo.
