Description

The papers in this session explore the dynamic between endowments or foundations and migration in three different contexts: that of medieval Lucca, Rome and the Jewish Diaspora. While migrations and endowments have largely been studied as separate phenomena, the presenters here will discuss three cases in which these two sub-fields overlap, and by doing so demonstrate that they can be studied together in a heuristically useful way.
