A great deal of current work in clothing and textile study involves explaining unusual artifacts or puzzling references, in turn aiding in the overall interpretation of those sources. This session brings together four papers in which scholars address curiosities found in Byzantine descriptions, 13th-century Spanish chronicles and law books, an English royal inventory, and the embroidery on a surviving Early Modern garment.
