This panel explores the use monastic chapter rooms, which were places of the encounter of the core members of a community with each other and with members of the secular world. Studies of customaries, necrologies, and chronicles give us insight into the uses of the chapter room. This panel will provide the opportunity to explore the chapter room as a locus of monastic activity, both spiritual and temporal.
