Abstract
In 1973, I was a brand new lesbian and also a brand new medievalist. This essay explores how these two strands of my life diverged and intersected over the course of my career. It has sad bits but is mostly happy. I hope it will interest many of you today, and I also hope that its story of change-for-the-better continues for all of us.
