The COVID Long Term Care Facilities page was obtained from Michigan's COVID-19 data page: https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/0,9753,7-406-98163_98173-526911--,00.html.
This report is created by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services from data self-reported by long-term care facilities into EMResource. Data is updated on an ongoing basis.
These case counts reflect current cases of COVID-19 among facility residents reported to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Please note that the data will be posted daily, Monday-Friday. These totals do not include patients or staff who have recovered or passed away prior to this report. In other words, they are a snapshot, not a cumulative count.
Because the data on the website are a self-reported snapshot, they should be used with caution. It is important to note that that the presence of COVID-19 at a facility is not an indicator of a facility that isn’t following proper procedures. Several facilities designated as regional hubs are supporting local hospitals by accepting confirmed COVID-19 positive residents and going forward will be noted as such. On the other hand, a facility may have had significant exposure to COVID in the past that is not fully reported on the website. In addition to checking this website, residents seeking cumulative information may wish to visit county health department websites with additional cumulative information, including the websites for the City of Detroit and Wayne County Health Department. While MDHHS cannot confirm the validity of the information on these sites, they may prove useful to residents seeking a fuller picture.
