Conversations Continue Regarding Mecklenburg County’s Black Community and COVID-19

Abstract

Dr. Ricky Woods of First Baptist Church West and Dr. Jerome Williams of Novant Health discuss the stress COVID-19 has placed on black communities, specifically in North Carolina. The article describes the disparity in healthcare access to the black population in addition to a disparity in correct health information being circulated around various neighborhoods in the county. The article includes the efforts of county officials and local churches at providing more access and inclusiveness in healthcare, in addition to setting up systems to ensure accurate health information is getting out to the members of these communities.
