Red Triangle secretaries convinced Austro-Hungarian officials to segregate boys from the main POW populations and establish schools to educate them. YMCA secretaries helped to organize and supervise these schools. The Association's goal was to educate these boys and make them prosperous citizens in the new post-war Europe.
