Jane Bear-Lehman, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA
Jane Bear-Lehman, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA is the department chair in occupational therapy at the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. An associate professor, Dr. Bear-Lehman's clinical and teaching specialties are orthopedics, upper limb rehabilitation, work reentry, and research. She was an associate professor of occupational therapy at Columbia University before joining NYU's faculty in 2004 and held academic positions earlier in her career at the University of Toronto and the University of Illinois-Chicago. She has over 60 publications in refereed journals and textbooks. She often presents nationally and internationally on topics related to the assessment of hand function. Her research interests center around upper limb assessment and intervention with a focus on the hand and spanning different populations. She is a co-investigator in a National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Aging (NIH/NIA) grant studying the cognitive and physical bases of disablement in adults, and has secured CTSI funding to move this research forward. In addition, Dr. Bear-Lehman has served as a guest editor for the Journal of Hand Therapy and is an editorial review board member for three journals in addition to OJOT.
