Abstract

Integrated international markets mean that a stock with the same risk will earn the same return anywhere in the world, regardless of the location of the stock. Segmented markets mean that similar risk stocks earn different returns in different countries.

Previous literature indicates international financial markets are segmented

New literature shows increasing world stock market index correlations.
