Abstract
The audience of this piece is primarily for scholars, both literary and non-literary, of Charles Darwin and Thomas Malthus. The piece attempts to illuminate the connections between the two authors and thereby fashion an inventive way of explaining various elements of laissez-faire capitalism, morality, correct government policy, and socialism. The piece was written in the context of a comparative literary analysis of An Essay on the Principle of Population, On the Origins of Species, and The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex in a wider effort to articulate the relationships that may exist between Darwin's and Malthus's ideas.
