Abstract
The WMU Department of History's assessment and graduate studies committees propose to develop a graduate program assessment plan. The department has not had an assessment plan for its graduate programs. The department's assessment and graduate studies committees will work together to develop a comprehensive plan to assess a sample of students' written work on an annual basis; conduct annual surveys with students to gauge their satisfaction with the program; and also examine the Graduate Student Annual Activity Reports (GSAARs). The papers, surveys, and GSAARs would then be used to determine the effectiveness of the MA and PhD programs and decide upon needed changes or revisions.
