About This Journal

Calliope was a student publication produced in cooperation with the English and Art Departments at Western Michigan University from 1954-1967. Its purpose was to promote good student writing. Calliope resumed in 1970 as a publication of Manuscript Day, which continued through 2001. The Herald and Horn preceded Calliope and Third Coast started coming out as the University's literary magazine in 1995.

Western Michigan University was known as Western Michigan College up to 1957.
