Abstract
Navigating pregnancy and the postpartum period can be a complex experience for women. There is a lack of diverse information, accessible resources, and support during this phase of life. Hormonal levels fluctuate not only during pregnancy but after giving birth as well, contributing to significant physical, emotional, and cognitive changes. Some of these changes may create barriers to meaningful participation in daily occupations, contributing to feelings of isolation, mood disruptions, and decreased overall well-being. Occupational therapy has a unique role in supporting women through pregnancy and postpartum by helping them navigate these transitions through a holistic, client-centered lens. The purpose of this project was to develop easily accessible educational resources to promote maternal well-being while supporting engagement and participation in activities of daily living. Several areas of need were identified through a needs assessment and literature review that could be addressed from an occupational therapy perspective, including environmental adaptations and ergonomic considerations, self-care, sensory support, and roles and routines. This project addresses maternal well-being through a holistic approach, aiming to fill gaps in support while promoting meaningful participation in daily life.
