Abstract
Education is the forefront to the field of occupational therapy. As occupational therapists advocate for the significance of their profession, it is expected to grow further. In recent decades, the research of many health professions have increasingly explored the impact of trauma. As occupational therapy evolves to address this public health concern, more research, increased integration into occupational therapy curriculum, and clear practical guidelines are necessary. Considering the mental health risks stemming from adverse life events, the complexities of mental health conditions should remain a crucial part of occupational therapy education, ensuring that students are well-prepared to deliver optimal care to their patients. The aim of this capstone project was to integrate trauma-informed care, revise content on various topics, and contribute to enhancing the quality of a mental health course in the Master of Occupational Therapy program.
