Introduction

Abstract

This special annual issue of Comparative Drama represents the third year of collaboration between this journal and the Comparative Drama Conference, featuring articles developed from research presented at the CDC's 47th gathering held at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) on July 9th–11th 2025. Under the stewardship of Mark O'Thomas and Nicholas Holden, this past year's Comparative Drama Conference brought together an international group of scholars and practitioners at Baron's Court, in the world's theatre capital, at the oldest, specialist drama school in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1861, LAMDA has nurtured the talents of countless celebrated actors, and provided a rare opportunity for the CDC to meet in a practice-focused environment. Conference organizers took full advantage of LAMDA's multiple state-of-the-art theatres and rehearsal spaces to host staged readings and performances as well as the presentation of research from graduate students, emerging scholars, and leaders in the field. The dynamic research culture, fostered by the conference, is reflected in this issue of Comparative Drama.

Comparative Drama is carried by JSTOR and Project MUSE.
