Abstract
This bulletin dealing with the field of mathematics reinstitutes the publication of the Graduate Division of Western Michigan College known as Faculty Contributions.
This bulletin has been written primarily for teachers of arithmetic. Since arithmetic play such an important role in the life of very individual and in all phases of business and industry, it is desirable that the subject be taught with meaning and with understanding.
Teachers themselves should know the basic concept of our number system, and teach these concepts as part of the student's experiences. The students then with this "meaningful" approach will not only understand arithmetic, but will also enjoy it.
