How does Discrimination make us Depressed?

Presentation Type

Symposium

Abstract

While research clearly demonstrates that discrimination increases the risk for depression, little is known about the mechanisms underlying these relations. Thus, the presentations examine possible mechanisms that are proposed in different well-established theories of depression. The potential to reduce depression in individuals who experience discrimination will be discussed.
