Abstract
This dissertation was submitted for the doctorate degree in the department of philosophy at the University of Vienna in 1946. The English translation of the title is: "The Depiction and Interpretation of the German Peasant War of 1525 During Two Centuries."

Ernst A. Breisach (1923-2016) was born in Austria and came to America on a Fulbright Scholarship in 1951-52. He then was hired at Olivet College and achieved the rank of associate professor there before joining WMU's History Department in 1957. He was a history professor at Western Michigan University till1996, chair of the department for 22 years, recipient of numerous awards, including the WMU Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award, and president of Cistercian Publications from 1989 -2008.
