Abstract
The purpose of this document is to provide a plan for preserving the unique historical and natural character of the small rural village of Douglas, Michigan. The village occupies a naturally beautiful location in western Michigan. Lake Michigan, the Kalamazoo River, Lake Kalamazoo and agricultural lands bound the village. The location of Douglas has contributed to the growth of mills, fruit orchards and associated industries, tourism and an art movement which included art schools.
