Abstract
The question of deciding which, parent shall receive custody of any children following1 a divorce has become an important problem. Today, with a divorce rate of 4.6 per 1,000 population children are very frequently involved, and the decision concerning their custody can be the most difficult and traumatic one a judge has to make. "A judge agonizes more about reaching the right result in a contested custody issue than o about any other type of decision he renders."
